K.B. Clarke RESTORES FOREST HILLS HOME

On Friday afternoon, May 24, 2002 K.B. Clarke was called to 206 Amaranth Crescent in Dartmouth to secure the roof, siding and remove and store contents. After the contents were moved to our warehouse, our bid was accepted for reconstruction of the home. The fire started on the exterior back deck, igniting the exterior sheathing eventually in to the attic cavity before being extinguished. This left an interesting restoration challenge as the work entailed removing the entire roof and exterior of the house with minimal disruption and no additional damage to the interior floors, cabinets and basement areas, which were all unaffected other than a light amount of smoke. The biggest obstacle was obviously to protect the unaffected areas all the while we were dismantling the roof, sheathing and siding in order to ensure that neither falling debris or weather would damage the interior. Thanks to the experience of the crew all items scheduled to be saved were, with the project being completed approximately 2 months after demolition and almost all contents were successfully cleaned and returned.
