K.B. Clarke Restores Meat Market After Fire

In early 2002, K.B. Clarke was called out to Joe’s Meat Market to quote one of the worst smoke cleaning jobs our crew had ever seen. Although nobody was sure quite how the fire started it created some of the thickest, greasiest smoke residue imaginable. Black smoke was in everything from pop coolers to meat cases, foods, walls, ventilation system you name it and it was full of smoke. When we tried to remove the residue it just smeared creating a bigger mess. Through the use of extensive degreasers, emulsifiers, recleaning and deodorization eventually the items began to shine. Although the store itself was under 2000 square feet it took almost 2 full weeks just to the number of times and level of detail it took to removed the residues. In some areas it required five separate cleanings just to ready it for smoke sealing and painting. Amazingly, although all food was disposed of most of the furniture, fixtures, display cases etc. were totally restored and the store was completely restocked and operational within 3 weeks. Special thanks to the cleaning department for a spectacular job!
