Shearwater, NS K.B. CLARKE AWARDED 3 CONTRACTS FOR DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE On February 24, 2002 K.B. Clarke was officially notified that they had been awarded 3 public tenders totalling over $200,000.00 in volume which had to be completed by March 31, 2002. The contracts were for: HAHX42 - stripping asbestos siding, residing with vinyl, insulating all exterior walls on numerous living quarters HAHX42 - removing and renewing steel entrance doors, locksets and storm doors for numerous living quarters HAHX44 – removing and replacing vinyl windows and all trims on numerous living quarters While the timeline was severe enough the real complication was in measuring, ordering and receiving over 150 windows, which take 3 to 4 weeks just for delivery time, let alone scheduling the installations with people living in the units. K.B. Clarke started with the siding contract and removed all existing siding, removed sections of sheathing, installed blown in insulation to the wall cavities and then insulated with foam and finally resided. This contract was completed in two weeks in time for the door delivery. The 86 doors were installed in under a week just in time for the windows to arrive. While we wish we could say every window was installed by the March 31 deadline there were three units which couldn’t be completed due to the occupants being away, windows back ordered and simply running out of time. K.B. Clarke would like to thank the crews for their hard work and dedication in completing these contracts in an impossible deadline. On Aril 9, 2002 the last window was installed. ![]() |
