K.B. CLARKE COMPLETES 2002 SAFETY AUDIT WITH A GRADING OF 93%

In March 2002, the Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association performed an extensive external audit on K.B. Clarke’s safety program. All companies after becoming Safety Certified require a yearly audit to ensure compliance and continued improvement with their safety program and every third year the companies receive an external audit which is much more detailed and site specific.

The requirements for all Safety Programs are based on legislation from the Occupational Health and Safety Acts (OHSA). Essentially a complete Hazard Assessment must be done of all the companies activities and sorted into levels of importance. In all major categories such as PPE, First Aid, Training, Safe Work practices, Job Procedures, Inspections, Incident Investigation etc. a Policy to must be created which states the companies level of commitment using the OHSA as a minimum guideline. After the policies are created companies must then use various procedures, inspections, training, statistics and documentation to monitor results and show due diligence and compliance.

Many companies, government agencies and institutions, now will not allow any companies who are not certified or in the process of certification to work on their job sites. K.B. Clarke has been Safety Certified for five years.
