K.B. Clarke rebuilds Publicover Home

In December of 2002 the insured sustained a devastating fire, reducing their home to little more than an empty shell. All contents and belongings were lost and it was decided that little of the house was reusable except the foundation and a small amount of framing. Immediately after Christmas, K.B. Clarke crews began demolition and reconstruction of the home. Some of the difficulties faced after framing were of course heat for the bricklayers, heat for smoke sealing of the very porous concrete, and heat for the drywallers and painters.

It was decided that the best course of action was to essentially vapour barrier enclose the basement area to allow it to be heated for smoke sealing and then after electrical and plumbing rough-ins we could permanently insulate and then arrange temporary heat to complete the interior. The masons elected to tarp in their scaffolding and provide heat via a salamander for their brickwork and mortar.

The total project was completed in just less than three months, which was slightly under schedule. Many thanks to the crew as we know the family was very glad to back in to their new home.
