K.B. Clarke Sends Staff to Edmonton after 2004 Hail Storm

On Sunday July 19, 2004 one of the worst natural disasters in Canada pounded Edmonton with sheets of rain and hailstones the size of golf balls forcing the evacuation of West Edmonton Mall, numerous apartments and thousands of homes and roads. Many homes and business had water and sewage up to their knees as ice blocked storm sewers and catch basins and several roofs collapsed.

After the water subsided insurers and property owners had to figure out how they could restore their properties and arrange fair settlement figures in the quickest and fairest manner. Letting the properties sit wet through the hot summer months would lead to mould claims and greatly escalated costs.

As a contractor who had been through several CAT claims in our own areas we had numerous request from insurers to assist with the claims in Edmonton. Several K.B. Clarke staff volunteered to assist and within 5 days we had our own small crew working in Edmonton for nearly a month and responded to over 60 claims.
