K.B. Clarke's Mobile team.

Just when we thought we had the customer service sides of estimating, scoping, and reporting down to a well defined series of procedures and paperwork, along come Jamie Geddes and Robert Richards, with some innovative ways of providing our customers, insurers, agents, contractors with the information they require in "real time".

The two Estimators, renowned in the office for their devotion to all things "techy", have become the leaders of one very mobile and customer service driven team.

Both estimators carry tablet pc's, or "power-packed, versatile ultra mobile tablets that feature full performance processing power, impressive battery life, an outdoor viewable displays, and a full portfolio of integrated security and wireless choices in solid, lightweight designs."1 For those of you non-techy's amongst us, what this translates into are two small, portable computers, in pen and pad style, capable of scoping, estimating, adding pictures, creating drawings, and recording voice notes and moisture readings in an electronic file created directly from the job site. If that isn't impressive enough, with the advances in the wireless internet service, they are able to email these files to anywhere and anyone directly from a work site or the comfort of their vehicle. Gone are the days of racing around to jobsites and scrambling back to the office to complete their scopes and loss reports. The tablet pc's enable all of this to be done and emailed amidst the chaos and disaster.

The team split the duties of driving and data entry/file maintenance as they make their way around the city. Both estimators agree these portable machines not only improve their response time to adjusters and customers but make their jobs run more efficiently, save them time (not to mention gas) and help them keep their files completely up to date. They claim that given the efficiency of these devices, the only reason they need to be back in the office is to invoice. (Needless to say, Accounting is always happy to see them.)

Congratulations to you, gentlemen, for your willingness to experiment, your technological prowess and mostly for your commitment to customer service.
